Alaska Business Tax Credit Program
Alaska has an Education Tax Credit (ETC), but it works differently than scholarship tax credit programs in other states.
What it supports: The Alaska Business Tax Credit program allows businesses to receive tax credits for donations to educational institutions (public or private) for facilities improvements, equipment purchases, and curriculum development—or for university-level scholarships.
Important clarification: Unlike states with Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs), Alaska’s ETC does not create a pool of funds for K–12 private school tuition scholarships. Families cannot apply for K–12 tuition assistance through this program.
Why this matters: If you’re researching ways to fund private school tuition, the Correspondence School Allotment (for individual approved classes) is currently your primary public funding option in Alaska.
