Student funding amounts under the Florida FES-EO are determined based on grade level and county of residence.

The Florida FES-EO also offers families of eligible students the option to receive a $750 scholarship to provide transportation to a public school different from the school to which the child was assigned.

Student Eligibility

A parent of a child may apply for and receive a Florida FES-EO if the child is a Florida resident and is eligible to enroll in kindergarten through grade 12 in a public school in the state. Priority is first given to:

  • students whose household income level does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level (FPL)
  • students in foster care or out-of-home care
  • students whose household income level exceeds 185% of the federal poverty level, but does not exceed 400%

Rules & Requirements

  • Income Level: Priority given first to students whose household income level does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level (FPL) or who is in foster care or out-of-home care. Then, to students whose household income level exceeds 185% of the federal poverty level, but does not exceed 400%.
  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of Florida.
  • Educational Status: Students must be eligible to enroll in kindergarten through grade 12 in a public school.
  • School Requirements: Funds can be used at eligible private schools that meet state standards.
  • Program Administration: You will work with your selected scholarship funding organization (SFO) under this program.

Using Your Funds

Funds through the Florida FES-EO program cover private school tuition, fees, and approved educational expenses.

How to Apply

  1. Check Eligibility: Ensure your child meets the income and residency requirements. You can find more parent resources on the Florida Department of Education site, including a survey to determine eligible scholarships.
  2. Gather Documentation: Collect required documents, including proof of income and residency.
  3. Choose a Scholarship Provider:  Choose a non-profit scholarship funding organization (SFO) that is administering the program through the Florida Department of Education SFO site.
  4. Complete the Application: Follow the application process on your chosen scholarship provider’s site during the open enrollment period.
  5. Submit: Review and submit the Florida FES-EO application along with any necessary documentation.
  6. Compliance: Ensure you are in compliance with the program by reviewing the materials provided to you by the scholarship provider.
