Mississippi School Choice

Mississippi supports school choice for families through three key programs. The programs are the Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Program, the Nate Rogers Speech Language Therapy Scholarship Program, and the Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia Program.

Mississippi Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Program

The Mississippi Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Program provides funding to parents for children with special needs to help defray costs to attend a private school. Alternatively, families can use the funds for other specific allowable expenses to educate their child. This Mississippi school choice program aims to expand educational options for eligible children that best meet their educational needs.

Mississippi Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia Program

The Mississippi Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia provides vouchers to families to access specialized dyslexia services and instruction to meet their child’s educational needs at special purpose non-public schools. The program helps cover these educational costs for students in grades 1-12 diagnosed with dyslexia.

Mississippi Nate Rogers Speech Language Therapy Scholarship Program

The Nate Rogers Speech Language Therapy Scholarship Program provides vouchers to help cover educational costs for K-6 grade students with speech language impairments. This program aims to allow a child with a primary IDEA eligibility of speech language impairment to attend a non-public school. The school should provide instruction in speech language therapy and intervention as its primary purpose.
